Siddhivinayak Mandir, Mumbai

Siddhivinayak Mandir is a place that is very special to us. Hence during any visit to Bombay, however short the visit may be, we make it a point to visit the temple. The precincts of the temple are clean and neat, and there is a security check to get in.
The best time to visit would be early in the day, as the rush is less and getting the Darshan of Lord Ganesha is much more faster and peaceful as well. The vigraha of Ganesha is a red colored one, and the direction of the trunk is towards the right- a rarity.
A firm belief among devotees is that, whenever someone prays with true devotion and a clean mind, He bestows and fulfills any wish.
Big silver rats are placed outside the sanctum and it is a common practice to whisper any wish into the ears of the rats. I personally find this very cute, and have been doing it since childhood.
Originally built in 1801 as a small structure, over the years the popularity has tremendously increased thanks to the Bollywood stars that frequent the temple.
Outside the temple, within the premises are many shops that sell Ganesha moorthis of all shapes, color and sizes, along with other items used in worship. As usual I picked a few Ganeshas along with a small bust of Shivaji Maharaj who now proudly sits on my book shelf.

When in Mumbai, do visit this temple to get your wishes fulfilled!
